The Griffin Museum is proud to continue its tradition of fostering creative growth with Photography Atelier II, an advanced, project-driven course led by photographer and educator Traer Scott. This online class is designed for students who have completed Photography Atelier I and are ready to take their photographic practice to the next level.

Atelier II challenges participants to deepen their conceptual thinking, refine their visual storytelling, and expand on an existing body of work -- or launch a new one -- building on the skills and insight gained in Atelier I. Receive insightful

During this in person workshop you will learn how to make one of the most beautiful and expensive processes, platinum and pallaidum prints, which was brought into the public eye by the Pictorialist photographers. Platinum prints can range from a cool gray-black while Palladium prints usually range from warm black to very warm brown. Many people mix the two metals to cut the cost and change the tonal range to personal taste. Pre(Occupied) Landscapes aims to challenge conventional representations of the landscape in photography. Rather than treating landscapes as passive backdrops, this workshop explores them as active, layered sites where natural systems, social histories, and political forces intersect. Through lectures, discussions, a guided field exercise, and peer critiques, participants will engage with the landscape not just as a visual subject, but as a living archive of occupation, transformation, and resistance.
