John J. Sullivan Memorial Dedication

Winchester officials will dedicate a memorial to former Select Board member and Town Moderator John Sullivan in an area behind Town Hall, close to the Mt. Vernon Street bridge. The memorial includes a bench and plaque.

Sullivan served three terms on the Select Board in the 1970s-1980s before being named Citizen of the Year in 1985. He served as town moderator or an unprecedented 37 years before retiring in the spring of 2014. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.

Learn About Age-Friendly Winchester

The Town of Winchester was declared an “Age-Friendly Community” by AARP in 2018. The goal of Age-friendly Winchester is to actively work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for its aging population. The Winchester Council on Aging, operating through the Jenks Center, played a pivotal role in guiding the town's efforts to achieve the "Age-Friendly Designation" from AARP and the World Health Organization.
